Movement for Actors
16 Week Behavior/Emotion Intensive

” . . . you are going to re-discover what acting is and what it means to be an actor, and perhaps re-define your own philosophies about how you work . . . “

Energy comes from emotion, and our emotion is a biological process in our bodies. This process is extremely intelligent. In fact, as you will discover in this course, our subconscious is housed in our whole biological body, not some inaccessible piece of brain tissue. Our cells have memories and intelligence, and movement, therefore, provokes emotion. Imagining a past experience to bring out the related emotion for your scene is a small part. Knowing what behaviors that can trigger those emotions can be much more powerful. This is the connection to a source that is beyond ourselves. As actors, as artists, we explore the intricacies, idiosyncrasies and implications of our interaction with each other and the environment. It helps us cope, and helps us pursue our own desires. Drama is an exposition of these elements. What makes drama powerful is the subtle intuitive truths that are betrayed by our interaction. We can never know everything about ourselves, therefore the source is infinite, and we will always have wonderful and dreadful discoveries awaiting us in our exploration of the human condition.

3 Classes limited to 10 students each.
Schedule: TBA – $25 for 3 hour class once a week. 16 classes total.
