About

Simpatico Movement was founded in 2004 by Davey Bellerose. It sprang from a passion to move behind and beyond the paradigms in commonly practiced methods in movement for the performing artist.

Any type of expression, whether on the stage, at the office, at home, or in solitude, is movement. The word simpatico was chosen to represent those inherent qualities common among any expression of the human condition. Simpatico Movement is a process for breaking the behavior code through the practice of the Bellerose Technique. It explores the common denominator in human expression and interaction. It bridges the gap between the understanding of whatever movement technique you may have studied and the metaphysical and ephemeral principles of our inner drives and energies that are the origin of our movement.

“I believe art’s purpose is to give us in-depth and unique perspectives on the events of our times and cultures that can’t be gleaned from any other source. These views challenge our perceptions, and the assumptions of our belief and value systems, causing us to seek better ways of being human. That is the power of art.

The mission of Simpatico Movement is to offer an evolving technique that not only challenges the established paradigms in thought and artistic expression, but also allows one to incorporate various schools of thought and value systems into one’s own aproach. In this way one can effectively express the profound truth of the message in the given circumstance for any role we play, whether on stage or in everyday life. Simpatico Movement offers classes in Movement for Actors, Acting for Dancers, and for anyone who wants to gain a deeper understanding of why and how they feel and behave.
